Born in Marseille in 1963, Louis Winsberg first learned to play the guitar at the age of twelve with his friends from the band Los Reyes, which will become the Gypsy King. After having studied classical guitar, he decided to learn the jazz. In 1981, he plays with many bands : Antoine Hervé, Eric Le Lann… end records with Mike Stern, Eddie Gomez, Mino Cinelu and Paco Sery. In 1984, he joined up with Jean-Pierre Como and Paco Séry to form Sixun, which recorded a total of 9 albums and 3 videos, and toured extensively both in France and abroad. Louis Winsberg was one of the first musicians in France to use the synthesized guitar. He explores new melodies, harmonies and tones, and is particularly interested in ethnic music and its rhythms. In the 90's, Louis Winsberg took part to many musical experiences, playing with different artists like Sylvain Luc, the Touré-Touré brothers, Marc Berthoumieux or Claude Nougaro.
In 1998 Louis Winsberg began to study flamenco guitar and met many Flamenco artists, it is at that moment, that the band Jaleo was born! The Jaleo show, was an instant success with the public, and toured in France and abroad for more than 100 concerts. The album released in October 2001. As the first Jaleo captivated audiences in 2005, Jaleo released his second album, entitled "Le Bal Des Suds". At the same time, Louis Winsberg doesn’t neglect Jazz and go back to its source improvising on the standards of French Chanson with Ira Coleman (b) and Stéphane Huchard (dms) in the Douce France trio. The CD « Douce France » was released in january 2007 (e-motive records).
Since 2003, he has been also playing regularly with Dee Dee Bridgewater, who considers him as her favourite guitar player.
2006, Sixun is back on the road for the 20th birthday of the band
2007 , Louis Winsberg releases “Douce France” a tribute to French songs and Maurice Ravel
In 2008, Louis Winsberg received a French « Django d’Or » as the « Best artist »
2011 , Louis Winsberg releases “Marseille Marseille” an opus about his native city.
2018, "Tales of Michael" (Brecker) recorded in trio with André Charlier and Benoît Sourisse.
2021 "TEMPS REEL" New Trio with Jean-Luc Di Fraya and Patrice Héral
