Scatter, rapper, poet, Andre Minivielle is at the top of his talking tree, shaking up and knocking about words and conventions First noticed with Bernard Lubat in the Brigades Musicales, the “word mechanic” looks at life straight in the eyes, examines and dismantles the French language. Minivielle is from Gascogny where as well as singing in Gascon, the local dialect, he has invented a new art named “Vocalchimie” (vocal chemistry). His world is full of humour and improvis’action. He mixes traditional and modern with old megaphones and samplers! Everything works together in Minivielle’s world: from a traditional gascon dance, a beguine “gasconcubine”, a silent waltz,, a blues, a tribute to Pygmies, a “rapscat”
Seeing Minivielle is believing: whether he’s alone with his megaphone, his sports bag and a plastic bottle in hand or accompanied by jazz musicians, Andre Minivielle is a joker, an improviser and can sing faster than his shadow. He dances with idioms, mocks french accents (“La vie d’Issiba”), sings the mishaps of democracy under an umbrella of word play and improvisations. As Andre says himself, he doesn’t sleep at the wheel of his tongue!
