Celebrating 10 years of collaboration in 2008, Thomas de Pouquery and Daniel Zimmermann first met at the CNSM in Paris. In 2002, Thomas and Daniel won the Concours National de jazz de la Defense: first prize orchestra and first prize soloist. The following year the young musicians were swept away to take part in a major tour which included appearances at prestigious festivals (Orleans, Parc Floral), It’s at this point where the band start to spark off each other. It was in 2005 that they put together a new project, a project where sound, improvisation and writing are at the mercy of lyricism and communicative energy. An energy that progresses from red to black, from passion to despair. Daniel’s participation in “Sacre du Tympan” as well as Thomas’s presence in Rigolus and Andy Melmers Megacotet, doesn’t stop them from working 12 hours a day whilst recording “He’s looking at you kid” . The influences are as large as jazz can be today, the rhythm is incandescent: Maxime Delpierre on guitar, Sylvain Daniel on the bass and David Aknin on drums. A rhythmic block where the two soloists slot in like a winning game of Tetris!
